CDPCDP Subcommittee had organised a management class for the central region on the topic 'Interpersonal Relationship and Communication' on 18th of August 2012 at Hotel Nile Plaza, Vytila. The class began at 10.30 AM. and was inaugurated by Chief Engineer, System Operation Sri. C.V. Nandan. The faculty selected for the subject was Prof.SankaraNarayanan Nair of CUSAT, a towering personality who is well known to K.S.E.board. He had delivered several management as well as safety classes to K.S.E.board officers. Due to heavy rain and bad weather and as there was many line complaints in the field some of our members could not attend the class. By 11 o'clock more members arrived and the class gained momentum. 52 members including 10 lady members participated in the programme.

The class was charted as two sessions. In the forenoon session discussions were made in Interpersonal relationship with the help of slide show. According to Prof.Sankaranarayanan "Success is not the key to happiness. Happines is the key to success" He informed us that the human mind is important and it is controlled by the three clocks- the biological clock, the intellectual clock and the emotional clock. The action steps for one to turn out to be a winner are be a good finder.
Make a habit of doing it now.

Develop an attitude of gratitude.
Build positive self esteem.
Stay away from negative influences.
The Professor enlightened us on the importance of Team work. Team work plays an important role in the working atmosphere.
A TEAM is
Together
Everyone
Achieves
More
Team work and success always go together. That is why in project areas where team work is required the more there should be a proper understanding and co-ordination between all staff and officers and then only the work of entire project can progress and achieve the targets given. In addition to the technical skills these management skills are also highly essential.

In the afternoon session the class was on 'Communication'. Communication is a big factor in Interpersonal relationship. Listening & media of communication has key role in communication. The key to listening is "Listen with your eyes and take it to your heart". The eye contact and the facial expression are important among the basic skills of speaking.

A short film from Poland featuring the life of a handless youngster 'Nick' was shown. This made us feel how a person adjust his life and live happily amidst the adverse situations he has to face. The afternoon session ended at 5 pm. The class seemed to be very effective and informative. The professor was narrating the topics quoting his own experiences and also with a sense of humour that attracted the participants and made them observant.

We should keep in mind that such classes are intended to reform us and every member should exploit such an opportunity available to them so that we can deliver the best to our organisation, family and the society.
and always remember
"SMILE - A smile can change your life"
