KSEB doubles compensation for electrical accidents

KSEBThe Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has doubled the compensation amount given for death caused by electrical mishaps from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh. The new compensation will come into force with retrospective effect from July 1, according to a Board decision. The KSEB has also doubled the compensation given to people who become physically handicapped owing to electrical accidents and to owners of cattle killed in similar mishaps.

New projects

The Board has also decided to award the contract for constructing the 15 megawatts (3x5 MW) Barapole small hydel project at  Kannur, to Poulose George and Co.

The project is to be constructed at a cost of Rs 73.94 crore. The annual generation capacity here will be 36 million units.

The Board also gave administrative sanction to install a 315 MvA 400/220 kV transformer at the Madakkathara substation in Thrissur at a cost of Rs 40.1 crore. It is to be installed within a year.
