The State Government has re-constituted the director board of the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) by creating two new director posts including that of a woman director. Some of the existing director posts have been modified to accommodate new requirements.
K Valsala Kumari, Chief Engineer (Corporate Planning), has been taken on board as Director (Renewable Energy and Planning). In fact, the post of CE has been upgraded to that of Director.
The Companies Act requires that every company having a paid-up capital of Rs 100 crore or more to have a woman on its board of directors.
The other new director post created is that of Director (Supply Chain Management and Generation Electrical). J Baburaj, presently Chief Engineer (Supply Chain Management) has been appointed to this post.
Some of the existing director posts have been modified.
The post of Director (Distribution and Generation Electrical), at present held by M Mohammedali Rawther, has been re-designated Director (Distribution and Safety).
Philip Zacharia will take over as Director (Generation Civil) on the retirement of K K Karappankutty who holds this post at present.
When the Kerala State Electricity Board was a 'board' it did not have 'directors,' but 'members.'
The KSEB has been a fully government-owned company since October 2013.
The director board has now been re-constituted taking into account the growing importance of areas such as renewable energy, capacity addition, energy conservation and demand-side management, supply chain management and safety aspects.
