The Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission (KSERC) has published the draft KSERC (Renewable Energy) Regulations, 2015.
A public hearing on the draft regulations will be held at Kalamassery on May 12. All renewable energy projects in the state will come under the ambit of the regulations, including wind energy, solar power and small hydel projects between five megawatts (MW) and up to 25 MW and hydel projects below 5 MW.
Among other things, the regulations will cover power purchase agreements, determination of tariffs for electricity generated from renewable sources, incentives and issues related to open access to transmission systems. They will also cover security mechanisms and matters connected to grid-interactive distributed solar energy systems. A major issue that will be governed by the regulations is benefits from Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) schemes.
The public hearing will be held at Municipal Town Hall, Kalamassery, at 11 am on May 12. The public can also send in their suggestions to the Commission before April 30. The draft regulation is available on the commission's website www.erckerala.org.
