The board approached the commission with a revised tariff petition on domestic consumers as the commission had earlier said the board was taking a discriminatory attitude towards HT and EHT consumers by protecting domestic consumers from power restrictions.
The commission also criticized the board for issuing an order exempting a section of domestic consumers from paying power surcharge during October-December, 2011 period, without the knowledge and approval of the commission.
The board while taking note of the government assurance on Rs 50 crore financial support, said only those consumers who use more than 120 units per month were supposed to pay the surcharge.
According to the commission, the board had no right to exempt a section from the purview of surcharge, unless and until it receive the financial as assistance offered by the government for the same purpose.
The commission is expected to pass on order on the board's tariff petition for power restrictions on LT consumers in a day or two.
