TradingPower trading firm NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd will supply 300 MW electricity daily to Kerala for a period of three years starting from March, 2014. NVVN, a wholly-owned subsidiary of state-run power producer NTPC, would provide the electricity at a cost of around Rs 4.50 per unit.

In this regard, NVVN and Kerala State Electricity Board entered into a power purchase agreement .

As per the pact, the firm would supply 300 MW round the clock power for period of three years starting from March 1, 2014, according to a statement.

"This power purchase pact envisages supply of over 7 billion units power sourced by NVVN from Chhattisgarh during this contract period," it added.

NVVN, which won the contract through competitive bidding process, would source the required supply from pooled power from Chhattisgarh.

Currently, NTPC supplies about 1,300 MW electricity to the Southern state from its three thermal power stations -- Ramagundam, Simhadri (both are located in Andhra Pradesh) and Talcher (Orissa).

The power producer also has a gas-based station in Kerala.
