The Eastern Power Distribution Company of AP Limited (APEPDCL) has so far earned Rs 1,45,70,393 in the form of electricity bill payments through its mobile app, Eastern Power, within three months of its launch.
This was the biggest achievement of the discom in the mobile application technology launched by the coastal discom on November 3, 2015, said APEDPCL chairman and managing director R Mutyala Raju. This apart, nearly 34,000 consumers of the discom downloaded the app and continue to use it, he added.
Based on the feedback and suggestions from the users, the discom decided to upgrade the features of the app and has released the new version on Google Play Store, Raju added. Three new features have been added are - 'My Usage', 'Quick Pay', 'Connect and Consumption'. 'My Usage' helps the users to estimate electricity use in units and the amount payable by entering the current reading from the meter. The feature is presently available for domestic and commercial customers. 'Quick Pay' helps the consumers to pay their bills directly without registration. The 'Connect and Consumption' helps the consumers to connect to APEPDCL as well as APTransco, APGenco, APSPDCL and APERC through Facebook and Twitter.
The app was developed by the information technology wing of the discom. New users can avail the app by simply downloading it from the Google Play Store. The user will have to sign up with their registered e-mail id, 16-digit service number and Aadhaar number.
Some other features of the app include view and pay electricity bills, bill reminders, power supply position of the area, mobile numbers of assistant engineer, additional engineer and divisional engineer of the consumer's residential locality, SMS alerts on the complaints, analysis of the consumers' pattern in past 10 months, payment history of past 12 transactions and registration of electricity supply complaints.
