However, initial response to the scheme was good as the authorities had been receiving over 50 transactions per day.One of the officials informed that despite the fact that scheme is very much beneficial for the consumers they were not coming for it because most of the people were not aware of it.
Though the authorities have now decided to start a campaign to popularize it among public through advertisements, it would take sometime, he added.
He further said it was not difficult to get the benefits of this scheme as the consumers could check as well as pay their bills by just creating an email account at their website.
It was only for the first time that they would have to register their ID and the password at the website but after that it would become very easy to pay the bills.
After payment of the bill, the consumers could easily get print out of the receipt of the bill for their records, he added.
POWERCOM director (commercial) SC Arora admitted that there were only a few consumers who were actually taking the benefit of the internet billing scheme but they had decided to popularize it in a big way.
