The project will entail the establishment of data center, disaster recovery centre and customer care Centers at identified locations. The deployment will cover 30 towns including 66 sub-division offices and 354 other offices of JSEB.
The Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reform Programme (R-APDRP) is a flagship programme of the Indian government with a total outlay of Rs 51,577 crore.
Under the programme, IT companies would assist power utilities to strengthen and upgrade transmission and distribution networks from concept to commissioning in order to facilitate a reduction in aggregate technical and commercial (AT&C) losses.
The project would help JSEB establish integrated IT solution for customer relationship management, meter reading, billing and collection, energy auditing and accounting for collection of accurate data and monitoring of loss reduction performance.
"This is our third R-APDRP project. We believe that new revolution in the power sector, initiated with R-APDRP, will play a decisive role in transforming the Electricity Distribution System in the country by reducing losses and adding greater efficiency," HCL Infosystems Chief Operating Officer (Enterprise Businesss) Rajeev Asija said.
The company had, in 2009, won the country's first R-APDRP project from Rajasthan for over Rs 500 crore and another project from Himachal Pradesh last year worth Rs 100 crore, it said.
