Jharkhand state electricity regulatory commission (JSERC) has allowed marginal hike in power tariffs. Based on revised tariff for different categories of consumers, the overall 8% increase in tariff will be applicable from January 1, 2016.
In the domestic category there has been no change for the Kutir Jyoti categories except for the DS-IB category for both metered and unmetered category who now have to pay 10 paise more per unit of electricity consumed and Rs.10 more as fixed charges respectively. The urban domestic consumer would be paying Rs.2.60 per unit of electricity consumed for the first 200 units as against Rs.2.40 and at the rate of Rs. 3.10 per unit for the power consumed beyond 200 units as against earlier rate of Rs.2.90.
There has been partial increase in fixed charges as well which will be Rs.3 and Rs. 5 more than the earlier rate of Rs.40 per month and Rs.60 per month based on unit consumption category. The revision does not affect low-tension and high tension consumers drastically as the increase in tariff has been 40 paise and 35 paise per unit respectively for both the categories.
