Transmission towerAfter mobile, television, chocolate and all the important things, now Chinese technology will invade India in electricity transmission towers section as well. As these towers are light and occupy lesser space as compared to older Indian towers, the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) have installed two Chinese towers in  Panchkula under their pilot project. These towers are especially meant for urban and populated areas.

If the UHBVN authorities get positive result from the two sample towers then they will install them in urban areas of Haryana, especially in Panchkula and Gurgaon. As there is space crunch in urban and developed areas, so we are using these towers, another UHBVN official said.Regarding the price, he said it would be cheaper if we bought in bulk but, he maintained that these towers are less heavy than the previous one.

They have installed two such towers, which they called Tubular mono tower, in Sector 3 of Panchkula near Tau Devi Lal cricket stadium. The authorities are hoping to good result from these two transmission towers.

According to one senior UHBVN official the state government had called for these towers. Under the pilot project, we have just installed two towers, if we get good response then more can be bought.

Confirming it, Director (technical) UHBVN VP Kalra said:At present the state government had bought these two Chinese towers, but if we get success here, then Indian companies can make such towers by using the same technique. These towers are needed if any state wants to compete with the developed nations.

Welcoming the move by UHBVN, Panchkula citizens welfare association president SK Nayyar said:As land and electricity play an important role in our life, so there is no harm if towers get installed by using minimum space. If they are cheaper as well, as per authorities claim, then it is a welcome move by the authorities.

It would be early to judge the functioning of these towers, but we all want smooth functioning of these two towers to strengthen the state exchequer, Nishant Prabhakar, Haryana government employee and resident of Panchkula said.
