Inaugurating the super thermal power project in Mouda, Maharashtra , Prime Minister Narendra Modi prioritised the spread of electricity across the nation."If we have to bring change in quality of life of rural India, electricity is the most important factor. Priority is to make electricity available in all corners of the nation. I want electricity to reach the homes of even the poorest of the poor of Hindustan," he declared.
PM Modi also stressed upon the co-relation between electricity and employment, saying, "The supply of electricity not only removes darkness, but also generates employment."
He also declared that a movement towards renewable energy sources to generate electricity was on the cards, saying, "Our government will make an effort to utilize all sources for power generation and produce clean energy."
Explaining the importance of conservation of electricity, PM Modi said, "When electricity is saved it helps the entire family and also the nation, the expenses are reduced." He also requested all Indians to have discussions within their families on how to save power.
Further, PM Modi also expressed his sorrow at the spate of suicides by farmers in Maharashtra. He said, "Nothing is sadder than the fact that farmers have had to commit suicide. Farmers say that because of the lack of electricity, not much is possible."
However, he also announced that farmers would benefit from the newly launched scheme, the 'PM Jan Dhan Yojna', stating, "We can't forget the suicides committed by our farmers. Through 'PM Jan Dhan Yojna' now they can benefit the most."
The Prime Minister also added, "Humara kisaan itna taakatvar hai ki ek baar usey paani mil jaye toh mitti mein se sona nikaalne ki shamta rakhta hai (The Indian farmer is so strong that once he is given the gift of irrigation, he can even raise gold from the ground.)"
The PM also stressed upon the importance of infrastructure to develop the nation. "If we are successful in creating better infrastructure, the scope for development expands automatically. For any nation to develop, priority has to be given to infrastructure," he said.
At the same time, the Prime Minister also swore to show no leniency towards corruption, saying, "Corruption is a disease, and we have to free India of this disease. Corruption has destroyed our country. Kuch logon ki nazar mein brashtachar hi shishtachar hain (For some people, corruption is the norm)."
He also invited all citizens to defeat corruption, saying, "If the entire nation joins hands, corrupt people won't be able to do anything.
