Panipat thermal plant in Haryana achieve record generation1360MW Panipat Thermal Power Station- two (PTPS-2) of Haryana Power Generation Corporation Ltd. (HPGCL) has broken all previous records by achieving a record generation of 228.12 lakh units of power at PLF of 103.32 per cent in a single day on November 12, which is the highest ever since its commissioning.

A spokesman said in Panipat on 14-11-2008 that the Power Station, comprising of two 210 MW Units and two 250 MW Units, had bettered its own record of power generation of 226.78 Lakh Units achieved on November 09, by generating around 1,35,000 more units of electricity in a single day.

Giving details of power generated at the Deen Bandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Station Yamuna Nagar, he said that the 300 MW Unit-1 of the power station generated 73.09 lakh units of power without oil support on November 13, and achieved a record PLF of 101.52 per cent, which is the highest ever since the commissioning of the Unit.

He said that the HPGCL, on an average, had targeted to contribute 368 lakh units of electricity daily to the State in the month of November, 08.

The contribution by the HPGCL generating units had helped minimizing State's dependence on other power supplying agencies. It also helped in less over-drawls from the northern grid, for which the State had to pay a higher cost.

Thermal Power Station Panipat, a bunching of eight individual units with total installed capacity of 1360 MW is located about 8 KM in the west of Panipat city on Panipat-Hisar National Highway and is surrounded by cultivated green fields. In addition,   640 acres of saline waste land is earmarked for disposal of ash. The plant is equipped with a huge residential colony to ensure availability of staff and officers round the clock.  Unit No. 1 was commissioned on 1st November, 1979  Haryana day by the then President of India Shri Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy.
