
The meeting was attended by a top-level team from DongFang Electric Corporation Limited, China (DEC), which is supplying the the Boiler and Turbine-Generator (BTG) package for this power project.
During the discussion, the Minister urged the DEC chief to supply the BTG package in advance so that the new unit could be commissioned by January 2,011 instead of September, 2,011.
The Stage-III of the Mettur Thermal Power Project is being established at an estimated cost of Rs.3,100 crore by BGR Energy Systems Limited.
The firm has been asked to complete the project within 39 months and now the government is planning to complete it within 31 months.
The Chinese delegation, led by DEC chairman Si Zefu, has assured the Minister that he would do his best to provide the BTG package at an earlier date.
