Renewable energyTamil Nadu Energy Development Agency (TEDA) in association with Periyar Science and Technology Centre (PSTC) will set up a high-tech state-level renewable energy park, at a cost of about Rs 1.2 crore, in the city by March 2009. “All the construction work will be completed and the park will be commissioned on a two-acre land at PSTC by March 2009,” the PSTC Director, Mr P. Iyamperumal, told PTI.

The energy park would be commissioned with gadgets on non-conventional energy sources and models emphasising the importance of renewable energy sources, with the financial support of Rs 89 lakh and Rs 34 lakh from Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy Sources and TEDA, respectively.

Mr Iyamperumal said  besides providing an opportunity to know about solar energy, wind energy and bio-gas.

The park with interactive exhibits is a novel concept, which provides a gateway to learn the basic principles of science and technology in a “healthy, open-air and natural environment,” he said.
