Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao instructed power sector officials to examine the possibility of regularising all the outsourced employees working in the eneregy utilities. He asked the Electricity Employees Union to call off their proposed strike and come for dialogue with Power Minister Jagadeeshwar Reddy to resolve the issue, a release from his office said. Rao, who held a review on the issue with officials, felt the outsourced employees (of TS Transco, TS Genco and discoms) who have been working for several years on nominal salaries should be regularised on humanitarian grounds. He asked the officials to prepare guidelines for the purpose.
The Chief Minister recalled that the salaries of employees working in electricity department were increased substantially in the past and those of outsourced staffers were also hiked, he said.
The Government is ready to settle all the issues of the electricity employees amicably through talks, he said.
"The CM asked the union not to become party to the strike given on political considerations and to prevent any inconvenience to the general public by calling off the strike notice," the release said.
TSGENCO (Telangana State Power Generation Corp) CMD Prabhakar Rao and other officials have brought the demands of electricity employees and outsourcing staff to the notice of Chief Minister, it added.
